York-Hanover Trolley Trail

 

York Hanover Trolley Trail, Jackson Township, York County, PAThe York County Rail Trail Authority, after conducting studies in 2003 and 2009 determined the ownership of the non-defunct “Hanover Fast Line” trolley rail line and recognized the feasibility of utilizing this corridor for a portion of their trail development to serve the Hanover/Spring Grove area.

Funding was acquired from the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources for purchase of materials, right-of-ways and constructed with the Jackson Township Public Works Crew labor to construct Phase 1 beginning in Spring Grove Borough traveling east to the trail head located on Hershey Road at the Township’s wastewater treatment plant. Construction of Phase Two was completed in 2013 by the Public Works Crew that begins at the Trail Head at the wastewater Treatment Plant and travels east approximately one mile ending at Martin Road.
